This course will explore the tax consequences business owners face when transferring, selling, or modifying their insurance policies. Advisors will be presented with a sample fact pattern that includes the history of a jointly owned 'C' corporation and the evolution of several policies acquired by its owners. After a review of basic insurance principals, including valuation and tax law, students will learn how to advise the business owner to correct mistakes made in their planning.

Rick started his career as a practicing attorney, and is now part of a financial planning team. Together, they are dedicated to providing clients with financial planning resources, wealth management techniques, and estate planning to help solve their financial concerns and objectives.
Rick received his Bachelors of Arts degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara and earned his law degree from Santa Clara University, graduating with honors: Moot Court and Order of the Barristers.
Rick is very active in his community. He has served as a trustee for several private educational institutions and has been actively involved in philanthropy for many local charities. Rick is married with 5 children and resides in Los Angeles, California.
